An urban serenity in the heart of Amsterdam, where the rustic character of a historic canal house blends seamlessly with expert landscaping. At night, the garden shines in a stunning interplay of carefully placed In-lite lighting, magically bringing every nook and tree to life.
From the back room of the canal house, you enter the city garden via the charmingly tumbled clay pavers, expertly laid in an original block bond, namely in straight rows.
The authentic garden wall has been lovingly preserved and overgrown with climbing plants, providing a green, lush embrace in all seasons. This wall offers a subtle separation, while the various heights in the garden invite further exploration via robust Tibetan granite stepping stones, carefully placed to form a playful path.
The planting plan is well thought-out and balanced and only just planted here. The borders are filled with a lush mix of flowers and plants, which come into their own in every season and will grow ever fuller. At the centre are beautifully lit multi-stemmed trees, which add height and depth to the space and surprise effects. Like Cornus Kousa, or Japanese Dogwood, with its beautiful white umbels in spring and graceful red fruits in autumn.
We manufactured the centrally located raised water element from the same material as the aluminium tanks. The soothing sound of gently flowing water and the delicate, floating water lilies add a serene atmosphere that makes you forget for a moment that you are in the middle of the city. The high aluminium wall not only functions as a garden fence, but also contains an ingenious natural plant filter.
At the back of the garden you will find a Scandinavian-inspired canopy, which integrates an outdoor kitchen with stylish design. The luxurious dining furniture by Moss (made of recycled teak) invites you to long, relaxed meals in the open air. Above the dining table hangs a table lamp with built-in heater, perfect for enjoying this oasis even on cooler evenings.
