In the expansive landscape of Amstelveen, we created a sleekly designed garden that serves as a beautiful backdrop for an architect-designed home. This high-end garden exudes tranquillity, luxury and simplicity — perfectly balanced with the modern architecture of the home.

The challenge in this project lay in the marshy peat soil of the former pasture, which meant that we had to lay foundations for almost all of the paved areas in the garden.

At the centre of the garden is an exclusive swimming pool by Bos Zwembaden, seamlessly integrated into the design. The surrounding terrace is finished in trowelled concrete with an elegant monolithic finish that continues into the pool edge, creating a serene and minimalist look.

Next to the swimming pool, we built a custom-made pool house, finished in stylish thermo fraké wood. The warm wooden slats give the whole structure character and form a harmonious whole with the matching outdoor shower from JEE-O in the Soho wall version. The combination with the fashionable back wall creates a subtle, playful effect; maximum minimalism!

Under the canopy near the house, the materials used are reflected in a refined way: the same wooden slats and trowelled concrete create unity and tranquillity on the villa’s literally raised platform. A wear-resistant and low-maintenance terrace, which was a challenge for us to create at exactly the same level as the interior floor. To ensure proper drainage, we created a refined linear gutter for water runoff.

The Livium slats make this spot a comfortable outdoor space in all weather conditions. In the evening, the floating fireplace creates a special atmosphere, with a view of the colourful sky above the meadows.

The sightlines in the garden are enhanced by imposing, characterful pots from Atelier Vierkant. Accented with integrated spotlights in the concrete terrace. The borders are filled with a carefully composed planting plan full of ornamental grasses and perennials that provide colour, movement and texture throughout the year. As soon as the sun sets, subtle lighting from In-lite brings the garden to life in an atmospheric way.

The look has also been extended to the front of the house. Under the spacious carport, we created a durable driveway made of gravel slabs combined with robust tiles — practical and stylish.

This garden is the perfect example of luxury that lies in simplicity, craftsmanship and a thoughtful harmony between architecture, materials and nature with a sustainable existence.
