This recent project illustrates how far aesthetics and functionality can reach. At the highest point of the coastline of Kijkduin, Garden Vision created a breathtaking wrap-around roof terrace with a luxurious interplay of architecture, nature and outdoor living. We created an exclusive wellness area, with as the absolute eye-catcher a a custom-made sauna that is fully integrated into the facade of the penthouse. A wellness gem high above the city!
The benefits for body and mind
For centuries, cultures around the world have known that heat has healing properties. A sauna session stimulates blood circulation, detoxifies the body, soothes painful and stiff muscles and gives the mind new clarity. Whether you choose for a traditional wood-fired sauna, a steam bath or the deep relaxation of infrared (or a combination of all three, such as with this Tylo Combi heater) Regular use promotes recovery, vitality and a radiant complexion.
Design that enhances both the body and the outdoor space.
When designing a wellness garden, we always start by determining determining the desired sauna experience. Do you prefer steam, infrared or traditional? Would you like an intense cooling-off moment in an ice bath, an outdoor shower or a peaceful walking path through the garden? All these choices determine the structure of the a39> space and are seamlessly integrated into the garden design.
Privacy is essential in this regard. We create lines of sight that provide tranquillity, natural shelter, but also strategic openings: the view from the sauna is at least as important as the experience inside. At the roof garden in Kijkduin you can see the a29 over the planting far away the North Sea. In addition we design if desired changing rooms, outdoor showers and comfortable relaxation areas that make the wellness flow complete.
On this rooftop, we installed a spacious 5-person Sundance Spa jacuzzi against a blank wall, stylishly clad with Esthec and equipped with an electric cover lift that also provides shelter and privacy when in use.
Atmosphere and smart technology
Lighting plays a crucial role – both in the sauna and outside. Soft, indirect LED lighting (as in the custom-made sauna above) accentuates architectural lines, adds depth to the garden design and enhances the feeling of relaxation. We also pay close attention to technology: modern systems make it possible to preheat the sauna remotely, while energy-efficient solutions ensure a responsible and sustainable wellness experience.
